Proud to announce that our member Zahraa Dirany was one of the participants that celebrated in the flagship event of #SheDecides in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event marked the second anniversary of the global movement calling on everyone to protect, enhance and fulfil the fundamental rights of women and girls to decide about their bodies, their lives, their futures. #WithoutQuestion<\/p>\n

SheDecides is a global political movement driving change, fueled by actions in communities, with young people at its heart. Their vision is to build a world where every girl and woman can decide what to do with her body, with her life and with her future. #WithoutQuestion.<\/p>\n

SheDecides see a world where forced marriages, child marriages, female genital cutting & mutilation, and all forms of violence against women and girls are things of the past, and a world where every girl and woman can exercise her right to privacy, gender identity, choosing partners, pleasure, marriage, children \u2013 and integrated services covering contraception, pregnancy, abortion, infertility, STIs, HIV, cancers and violence.<\/p>\n

During the event in Kathmandu, the SheDecides Generation of Change was launched, consisting of 25 highly engaged young people, all born in 1994, from 25 different countries who will share their stories and develop their vision for the ICPD+25 Summit that will be held in November in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Zahraa had been chosen to be one of the 25 young leaders from 25 different countries around the world advocating for change & a world where #SheDecides. Where Zahraa chose to advocate young girls in Lebanon to protect them through advocating and pressing to pass a law that determines the minimum age for marriage in Lebanon and to make sure this law includes all the fundamental rights that give back the Lebanese women their dignity and their right to live and choose.<\/p>\n

The 25 leaders have met for the first time in Nepal for SheDecides Day 2019, and have come together to plot out their vision and plans for the year ahead, as the world marks the 25th anniversary of ICPD (the International Conference on Population Development), held in Cairo in 1994. Throughout 2019 the 25×25 will share their ideas and engage in activities in their local communities regionally and globally, inspiring others to take action to live the ambitions set 25 years ago at ICPD, and advance the rights of women and girls around the world. At the Nairobi Summit in November 2019, the official celebration of ICPD+25, the 25 leaders will declare their vision for the future – Vision 2044.<\/p>\n
