Empowering Women in Local Governance: Training Workshop in Douris
The Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering organized a training workshop at its center in Douris, in collaboration with Istidama Lebanon and with the participation of the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE). The sessions focused on women’s participation in governance, the municipal electoral law and its integrity, and the roles and responsibilities of municipal councils in Lebanon.
Activist Rola Zaiter from the Gathering led a rich session covering international conventions on women’s political rights, including the Beijing Conference, women’s quota, personal status laws, and UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, in addition to current local initiatives promoting women’s political participation.
