RDFL Roundtable Calls for Accelerating the Legislative Process to Set the Legal Age of Marriage in Lebanon
As part of its ongoing efforts to end child marriage in Lebanon, the Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering (RDFL) organized a roundtable discussion titled: “Accelerating the Legislative Process for the Law to Set a Minimum Age of Marriage and Referring It to the Joint Parliamentary Committees.”
The event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Affairs and brought together decision-makers, representatives of ministries, local and international organizations, and legal experts.
The meeting aimed to expedite the adoption of the proposed law by referring it to the joint parliamentary committees in preparation for a vote. It concluded with practical recommendations for a strategic parliamentary movement that prioritizes the protection of girls and boys as a national urgency, one that cannot be delayed, and as a binding legal and constitutional duty, in line with international conventions.
