The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering – Bekaa Branch organized a roundtable discussion titled “Enhancing the Local Community Response in Bekaa to the Issue of Child and Early Marriage.” The event was attended by the Governor of Baalbek-Hermel, local activists, and was funded by Trocaire.

The dialogue addressed the issue of child and early marriage, focusing on its causes, ingrained patriarchal mindset, and the political and social pressures hindering women’s progress in society. Emphasis was placed on the importance of collaboration among civil society organizations.

The discussion highlighted the roles of families, schools, media, and associations in raising awareness about child and early marriages. It also underscored the shortcomings in addressing this issue by the Ministries of Education and Social Affairs.
