Amplifying Women’s Voices in the Fight Against Misinformation and Digital Violence

The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering (RDFL), represented by Administrative Committee Secretary Raghida Kaworkian Yshouei, took part in a discussion organized by the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE), with the support of the Heinrich Böll Foundation – Middle East Office. The event marked the launch of three studies examining disinformation and the narratives that emerged during the war, their role in shaping public discourse, and their contribution to deepening divisions in Lebanon.

The discussion addressed sectarian narratives and mechanisms of polarization, as well as the media’s responsibility to provide accurate information and verify its sources. It also highlighted the importance of addressing digital violence and smear campaigns, particularly those targeting women, activists, and female journalists.

The discussions emphasized the need to improve media practices, create greater space for women’s and young people’s voices as sources of knowledge and opinion, strengthen protection mechanisms against digital violence, integrate media and digital literacy, and support the monitoring and documentation of digital violence, alongside the analysis of political and media discourse.
