We’re Not Alone

  • The League for Lebanese Women’s Rights – LLWR, a member in the National Coalition for Protecting Children from Child Marriage, has recently launched a national campaign entitled “Do Not Steal My Childhood and My Life by Early Marriage” that aims to raise awareness on this issue and contribute to increase the pressure on the decision makers for the aim of passing the law that sets the minimum age of marriage to 18 years old.
  • The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering – RDFL organized a meeting with representatives from the National Coalition for Protecting Children from Child Marriage member organisations. The meeting aimed to discuss the current challenges and opportunities facing their work mainly after the Lebanese 2018 parliament elections in addition to gathering partners’ input on the advocacy strategy that is currently being prepared by RDFL.
  • A press conference was held at the Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering Center – RDFL’s main center in Beirut on the occasion of the 16 days of activism against violence against women in 2017 in which the National Coalition for the Protection of Children from Early Marriage, which was initiated by RDFL, was launched, in the presence of the Minister of State for Women, Jean Oghassapian, the President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, Claudine Aoun Rokouz, the representative of the European Union in Lebanon, and a crowd of stakeholders. More than 57 member national and international organizations joined the coalition in addition to official bodies including the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and the National Committee for Lebanese Women in order to support in the advocacy work.
