#NotBefore18 Campaign impact

  • Soon after RDFL launched its campaign, speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri referred a proposed law on the protection of children from early marriage to the Administration and Justice Committee for discussion, after being put in the drawers of the Parliament for more than 7 months. The draft law was actually prepared by the RDFL in cooperation with a group of judges and lawyers. It was adopted by MP Elie Kayrouz and presented to Parliament on March 2017.
  • The Ministry of Health agreed to endorse RDFL’s campaign and join the efforts to raise awareness on health risks of child marriage through disseminating more than 70,000 poster\ flyer of the campaign in more than 2500 pharmacies, hospitals and primary health care centres all over Lebanon.
  • Shortly after launching the campaign, RDFL was accepted as a member in the Girls Not Brides global partnership, an international coalition including more than 800 civil society organizations from 95 countries, committed to ending Child marriage and enabling girls to fulfil their potential.
  • During the ceremony of Wajih Ajouz Award by the Samir Kassir Foundation for the best online campaign from #Lebanon, RDFL’s campaign #NotBefore18, about health risks of child marriage, was selected as the second best online campaign in Lebanon, and our partner Abaad organization won the award for the year 2017 for their campaign “إحسبها صح”.
  • RDFL’s campaign #NotBefore18 won a Silver award in the Healthcare category at DubaiLynx
