Participation of The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering in “The Regional Forum on Equality in Education in the Southern Mediterranean

The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering, in the person of its president, Marie-Thérèse El mir and the programs manager, Norman Halawi, participated over two days in the “Regional Forum on Equality in Education in the Southern Mediterranean Region”,  which organized by the EuroMed Feminist Initiative, with the participation of 120 people from Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia, and representatives of the Ministries of Education, the Ministries of Women’s Affairs and the national mechanisms concerned with women in the seven countries, in addition to teachers and experts, members of parliaments and representatives of women’s rights organizations.

The Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering is a secular non-governmental women organization which works with the democratic forces and represents a part of the advocacy secular democratic women’s movement, on the basis of international pacts and treaties, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Universal Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in order to promote women’s status and participation and empower them, aiming at achieving full equality between both sexes.
