RDFL launched the “National Study on Child Marriage in Lebanon.”

Under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs Dr Hector Hajjar, RDFL recently marked International Women’s Day by launching the “National Study on Child Marriage in Lebanon” during a significant event attended by Deputies from parliamentary committees, trade union and media bodies, local and international organizations. The study, conducted by Ipsos-Lebanon across all Lebanese governorates with 1300 samples, revealed alarming statistics. The launch event featured a dialogue session involving representatives from the Ministry of justice, social affairs, education, health, and media. MP George Akis made a commitment to expedite the legislative process of the law determining the age of marriage by proposing its transfer from the parliamentary Human Rights Committee to the joint committees directly.
