Trainings and Events (July – December 2018)

The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering – RDFL, Bekaa Branch, organized several training workshops for partner organizations on strategic planning of associations, human resource development, budgeting, advocacy, and media. The training comes within the framework of the educational, economic and social development project for Syrian and Lebanese youth in partnership with Action Aid and with the support of Reach Out to Asia, which is part of the above-all education initiative. The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering- RDFL’s members have attended the General Assembly as it’ the annual station during which the work is evaluated and the future plans of the association are prepared. This year’s conference was marked by the consolidation of several achievements of the community towards further institutionalization, expansion and development of work to serve women’s issues and achieve gender equality.

RDFL – Mount Lebanon Branch in cooperation with the Municipality of Jounieh organized a lecture on the reality of violence against women as part of the International 16 Days of Activism to Eliminate Violence against Women campaign condemning all forms of violence against women in the world. The meeting was attended by representatives of associations, activists and students from various universities.

RDFL- Bekaa branch organized in partnership with Fridrich Eibert Stiftung a seminar entitled “Women and the Personal Status Law” where participants opened a rich debate with religious leaders and civil society representatives.

The British Council, in collaboration with Maharat Foundation,  and RDFL organized a seminar on “Activating the role of women and the proposed Law to set a minimum age of marriage in Lebanon” with deputies Bakr Al-Hujairi and Antoine Habashi represented by Nohra Abou Younes at RDFL center in Baalbek.

RDFL sent letters for all 128 Lebanese Parliament Members reminding them of the need to pass the law for protecting children from the early marriage and asking for a meeting to discuss their opinion in this regard. We’ll be publishing soon the results of the visits.

The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering- RDFL participated in the regional workshop on mechanisms of combating and criminalizing child marriage held in Alexandria, Egypt at the invitation of the Center for appropriate communication for development “ACT” and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria. As an outcome, participants highly recommended to conduct #NotBefore18 campaign in all the Arab countries.
